*Where We
Are And How We Got There*
Our story
began long ago (4 years) and far away (500 miles). It began while we were on
vacation to Colorado. We stopped at a small RV Park in Northeastern New Mexico,
never dreaming this would be the place from which I am now typing this. The
cooler weather was a welcome change from 100 plus degree heat of Claremore,
Oklahoma. We really enjoyed our stay in Capulin RV Park, but put it in the back
of our minds until a year later (2001) when we were on our way to a family
reunion in Colorado and stopped again. Our Dad made a comment to the owner about
how well he liked the cooler weather and the surrounding view. She replied that
it was for sale but another man had already staked his claim. Our Dad thought it
wouldn’t hurt anything to look around since we were already there. After
arriving back home our family started to notice that Dad had gone Capulin crazy.
We always had to be called to the computer to view the weather in Capulin vs.
Claremore, despite the fact my dad had called and the man from Missouri had
indeed bought the park. This didn’t seem to matter much to Dad as our vision and
prayer had been to own a family business where Dad could be at home more, and we
could serve others together. Moving to New Mexico was strictly a joke in our
family because it always sparked a lot of lively conversation, especially when
talked about in front of our oldest daughter. There are 6 children, 2 girls, 4
boys, and parents, one of each and moving 500 miles West was something just fun
to talk about, at least for some. (Dad)
Life in Oklahoma was very busy and held lots of responsibilities. Besides our
dad being employed at American Airlines for 18 years, we had cattle, horses,
chickens (that stunk), and 4 boys to chase around 50 acres. It seemed there was
never enough time to invest in our family as we felt necessary. Our mom is a
homemaker and has spent much of her time homeschooling us kids for the past 11
years.
Early in the year 2003 our Dad received a phone call about an RV Park for sale
on Raton Pass in New Mexico. He called the man that owned Capulin RV Park to get
some information since these two parks are not far from each other. In the
course of the conversation the man stated that shortly after buying the park his
wife had to move to California to take care of her ailing father. He mentioned
that he probably should sell the park and go out and be with her in California
as they had been apart for some time. Needless to say, my Dad's ears perked up
and he told the man that he would get back with him. That night he dropped the
bomb. Everyone in the family thought it was a joke since he had already been
prodding us for the last year and a half. When reality hit, we agreed to commit
it to prayer. The Lord began working in a miraculous way and also very fast. Mom
and Dad ask God to give them a rhema concerning this matter. (A rhema is when
God speaks to you through His Word in a distinct way showing you His will for
your life. It may be a verse you have read in the past, but at that time it
jumps out at you, and you know it’s just for you.) It wasn’t long before the
Lord spoke to us through Psalm 84:5 & 6 which says, Blessed is the man who’s
strength is in thee; in who’s heart are the ways of them. Who passing through
the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools. It is
interesting to note that the area of Capulin, New Mexico is also known as Baca
Valley. The word well in verse 6 means spring, fountain, a source of
satisfaction, habitation or dwelling place, abode, retreat, or den. Needless to
say within a few months we were packing, my dad was making arrangements to quit
his job, and we were selling or giving away most of what we had. God was
changing the hearts of some of our family members in a miraculous way. There
were many other events that happened between then and now that space won’t allow
me to tell about. One thing is for sure, there is not a doubt in our minds that
God is the One who moved us to New Mexico and He is and will be the one that
sustains us each day. He has a very special plan for each member of our family.
He has proved himself faithful in many ways although we have only been here
since August 8, 2003. We could write a book already about the things that have
happened and about the many people and ministry opportunities that God has
placed in our path. If God would lead you to visit us, we pray we would be a
blessing to you, and we know you would be a blessing to us. If you have any
questions or need information please e-mail us at info@capulinrvpark.com. May
the Lord Richly Bless you and Keep you and may His face shine upon you until we
see you either here or THERE?
